The Hawker 800XP is the cheapest way into a real midsize cabin with transcontinental legs. Raytheon built it from 1995 to 2005, about 426 were delivered, and the type still flies charter, corporate and air ambulance work. Two Honeywell TFE731-5BR engines give it 2,540 nm with four passengers and a 447 kt top cruise.

The catch is age. The youngest 800XP is now more than 20 years old, so the purchase price is the small number and the maintenance forecast is the big one. We only put one forward once the engine, corrosion and parts questions below have clear answers.

Hawker 800XP price in 2026

Controller listings for the 800XP span roughly $1.25 million to $2.995 million, and on AvBuyer a 1999 aircraft with about 8,250 hours was asking $2.15 million while most others were price on request. Budget $1.25 million to about $3 million as of 2026, and treat it as indicative until a specific airframe is priced and confirmed.

At this age paperwork drives the spread more than paint. A cheap 800XP with engines near a major event, outside any hourly program, is usually the most expensive one to own.

Engines, corrosion and parts support

The TFE731-5BR runs on scheduled mid-period and core zone inspections before overhaul, and those events are where 800XP budgets break. We want each engine's times since inspection and overhaul, its enrolment in Honeywell's MSP or a similar hourly program, and any hot-section findings.

Corrosion is the second front. Duncan Aviation has reported corrosion on the lower ramp skins of 800XP thrust reverser buckets at C3 inspections, often starting as chipped paint around rivets. Its Hawker notes also flag steel wing fasteners, TKS de-ice panel joints and trim tab rod ends, all worth a close look on a jet that has lived on an open ramp at Lagos or Accra.

Parts are still available: Textron Aviation, which acquired Beechcraft and Hawker in 2014, services the fleet and sells Hawker parts, and Absolute Aviation's centre at Lanseria is licensed on the Hawker 700, 800 and 900 series. Some components simply take longer to source.

Range from Lagos, Abuja and Nairobi

Altitude hurts an 800XP more than a newer jet. Its sea-level take-off figure is already about 5,000 ft at maximum weight, and Johannesburg departures start roughly 4,500 ft (Lanseria) or 5,500 ft (O.R. Tambo) above the sea, so a fuel-heavy Highveld departure on a summer afternoon may need a lighter load. Lagos and Accra sit near sea level, where heat is the limit instead.

Import and registration: Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa

For a Nigerian buyer the jet goes on the NCAA's 5N- register under Nig.CARs 2023. The 0% duty treatment for airlines stops short of privately used aircraft, so expect standard ad valorem duty at a rate customs does not publish, and get the 7.5% VAT treatment confirmed with FIRS and the Nigeria Customs Service. For charter under an AOC, ask the NCAA early whether the aircraft's age affects approval. Our guide to importing a jet into Nigeria sets out each step.

Kenya is gentler: no duty on imported aircraft, no VAT on buying one since the 2023 Finance Act, and a 5Y- mark from the KCAA. South Africa adds the aircraft to the SACAA's ZS- register and levies 15% import VAT on its customs value.

Who should still buy an 800XP

It suits a buyer who needs eight seats and Lagos to Nairobi range on a limited budget, flies moderate hours and funds a proper maintenance reserve. It suits less well someone planning 400 hours a year, where fuel at around 217 US gallons an hour on Jetcraft's figures and the engine events add up fast. If a younger airframe fits the budget, compare a Citation XLS+, or read our light jet comparison if four to six seats will do.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a Hawker 800XP in 2026?

Pre-owned 800XPs were listed from about $1.25 million to $3 million as of 2026. Engine program status, the next heavy inspection and avionics upgrades explain most of the gap between jets of similar age. Figures are indicative and confirmed per aircraft.

Can you still get parts for a Hawker 800XP?

Yes. Textron Aviation still services the Hawker fleet and supplies parts, and Absolute Aviation at Lanseria is licensed on the Hawker 800 series. Some components take longer to source than for a current-production jet, so the operator's parts plan matters.

Can a Hawker 800XP fly Lagos to London nonstop?

Not on published figures. The great-circle distance from Lagos to Farnborough is about 2,690 nm, beyond the 2,540 nm quoted with four passengers, so plan one fuel stop. Lagos to Nairobi, about 2,060 nm, is within range.

What engines does the Hawker 800XP use?

Two Honeywell TFE731-5BR turbofans of about 4,660 lb thrust each. Check each engine's time since its mid-period and core zone inspections and whether it is on an hourly program such as Honeywell MSP.
